Comprises: (1) 39 autograph manuscript notebooks containing many drafts of Glyn Hughes' poems, research notes for novels, and numerous personal notes, partly dated between ca. 1979 and 1999, with some titles written on the outsides of some of them, notably 'Turner' (1 notebook), 'Roth' (ca. 2 notebooks), 'Poems' (ca. 4 notebooks), and 'Brontë' (9 notebooks) (2 boxes); (2) Copies of 6 of his books, namely, 'Millstone Grit' (1975), 'Best of Neighbours' (1979), 'The Hawthorn Goddess' (1984), 'The Rape of the Rose' (1987), 'Roth' (1992), and 'Brontë' (1996) (also held in Box 2); (3) 21 boxes containing many autograph manuscript and typescript drafts of his writings and related research notes, including, (a) Various earlier and shorter writings, ca. early-1980s (1 box), (b) 'The Rape of the Rose', ca. mid-1980s (1 box), (c) 'The Antique Collector', ca. late-1980s (3 boxes), (d) 'Roth' (earlier entitled 'Obsession' and 'The Obsessive'), late-1980s - early-1990s (5 boxes), (e) 'Brontë', ca. mid-1990s (9 boxes), and (f) 'The Pursuit', ca. late-1990s (2 boxes); (4) 1 large rolled autograph manuscript chart of contemporary events, arranged chronologically, constructed by Hughes as part of his research for his novel 'Brontë', together with 3 other similar charts for other novels, namely, 'Where I Used To Play On The Green', 'The Hawthorn Goddess', and 'The Rape of the Rose'; these latter 3 charts are held in the last numbered box in the 'Brontë' drafts section, namely, (3)(e) Box 9, whilst the large rolled chart is held on shelves adjacent to the collection.
